Kids Sliding

The 16 ice slides in the park vary in length from 5 feet to 217 feet and are named after land marks, to encourage education in Geography.

By sliding a mile kids - big and little - get value in 3 areas:

Exercise • Education • Ethics

  1. Exercise - The 25 - 50 slide runs to = 1 Mile. A fun way to burn calories over several days of sliding. Challenging!
  2. Education - Adding the feet of each run takes practice, too.
  3. Ethics - Kids are on the honor system to report their own score

Awards

  1. An award certificate from the Ice Park signed by the Governor of Alaska
  2. Additional prizes to those that slide the farthest.

The number one goal of the program is FUN, but the other important benefits are: Exercise, Education (math & geography) and the Ethics of reporting your own score. Come slide into spring with us!  Each slider that slides a total of 5,280 feet or one-mile or more on the various slides will receive a written commendation signed by Alaska Governor Sean Parnell for their efforts. We thank Governor Parnell and hope he gets to sign lots of certificates! Additional prizes will be awarded to those that slide the farthest.

So come to the ICE ALASKA Ice Park on Phillips Field Road in Fairbanks and SLIDE-A-MILE.
